Kenya has taken another major step forward in infrastructure development. The government has officially approved the expansion of the 23.5-kilometre Kiambu Road, connecting Muthaiga, Runda, and Ridgeways in Nairobi to Kiambu Town and Ndumberi. The project will transform the existing two-lane road into a modern dual carriageway, helping to ease traffic congestion and improve access to the northern parts of the capital region.

This important corridor serves thousands of daily commuters, traders, and logistics companies. For years, heavy traffic along Kiambu Road has caused delays and higher transport costs for businesses. The upcoming expansion is expected to reduce travel time by more than half, improving the overall flow of goods and people between Nairobi and Kiambu County.

The upgraded road will include four lanes, service roads, footbridges for pedestrians, bicycle paths, and better lighting to enhance safety. Construction will also integrate environmentally friendly designs, ensuring that development goes hand in hand with sustainability.

For the business community, this project represents a powerful opportunity. Improved road infrastructure means faster delivery, better connectivity for supply chains, and greater attraction for investors. With Kiambu County becoming one of Kenya’s fastest-growing commercial zones, the enhanced link to Nairobi will encourage new investments in housing, retail, warehousing, and light manufacturing.

This project also aligns with Kenya’s long-term vision to become a regional trade and logistics hub. By improving its transport network, Kenya strengthens its position as a gateway between East Africa and global markets, supporting regional integration and economic growth.

The Joint Kenya–Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JKACCI) celebrates this progress as a positive signal for bilateral investment opportunities. Better infrastructure directly supports smoother trade between Kenya and the Arab region. It helps exporters, importers, and investors operate more efficiently, opening new possibilities in logistics, construction, technology, and agriculture.

Kenya continues to prove that sustainable development and economic progress can move together. The new Kiambu Road expansion stands as another symbol of the nation’s commitment to innovation, connectivity, and prosperity for all.
